About Ramera Abraham

Ramera is a London-based vocal producer, engineer, songwriter, and artist.

After years of classical music training in piano, vocals, and drums, Ramera finished her undergraduate degree in Canada and pursued an advanced diploma in sound engineering and music production from Abbey Road Institute in London. Upon graduating from the Institute, she earned an engineering residency at Spotify's Secret Genius studio, with mentorship from Berklee College of Music. It was there that Ramera dealt with daily studio operations, and worked with artists and producers such as JP Cooper, Mr Hudson, Eve, Greyson Chance, and Ella Henderson while delving into the world of vocal production and engineering.

On a freelance basis, she vocal produces and records up and coming artists Matt Taylor, Seeva, ROSIN, and more.

After her EQL Spotify residency, Ramera started as a runner at Metropolis Studios. Six months later, she moved into an assistant engineer role. At Metropolis, she has had the pleasure of working with artists like Adele, Jess Glynne, Anne-Marie, RAYE, Stormzy, Sam Fender, and most recently mix assisted Nick Cave's album, Carnage, and assisted Little Mix's sixth studio album, Confetti.

About the course
Learn to produce your own vocals from home!
In this in-depth course we will teach you how to use pop vocal production in your own recording process, from pre-production to final mix! 

We will start by learning how to write/create part of an arrangement. During this process, you will be shown how to capture clean vocals at home, how to customise your vocal chain, and how to set up your DAW for a vocal recording session. 

We will go through detailed comping, editing, Melodyne/tuning, and also how to create vocal chops and effects to supplement the production. The final element of the course will be mixing our vocals into the instrumental track. 

This course will be perfect for any beginner to intermediate self-producing artist who want to delve into the art of vocal production to take their songs to the next level.

COURSE OUTLINE

The course will take place on 15th of August from 6pm to 9pm London time via ZOOM so you can interact with the instructor and classmates in realtime. 

By attending this course, you’ll have lifetime access to the course content and will be provided with details slides of the content for your reference when putting what you learn into practice. The course will be set out as follows:

PART 1 - Pre Production

  • Listening critically to our demo track and identifying song structure for BVs
  • Talking about your vocal chain
  • Writing and arranging backing vocals

PART 2 - Editing, Tuning, and Vocal FX

  • Cleaning up the lead vocal - comping and editing
  • How to use Melodyne and tuning
  • How to create the vocal effects to supplement the production

PART 3 - Mixing

  • How to use EQ and compression to get your vocals sitting well with your instrumental track
  • How to use parallel compression and subtractive EQ
  • ​Showcasing automation on vocals and reverb
